The Premise
My idea - get students to use movies to create their very own safety message!
What an exciting way to really get them involved in creating a powerful and meaningful message. They would have to not only plan out the script and the camera angles but they would also need to think about facial expressions and actions. How would someone feel in this situation, how would they act?
To me, this brings more power to the message for not only the audience but the creators as well. More than if I just had them sit through a 10 minute video put on by someone else.
The learning could then continue as they viewed each others' movies and critiqued them for content and delivery.
A down side I found while using Xtranormal for this movie creation project is the length. As there is only one scene and two characters, the potential for the movie to get boring quickly is very high.
However, I feel the time that it takes to create a movie like this more than makes up for it's short, but pointed message. The students will not only learn a great many new and fun skills, they really have to take their safety message to heart.
